Ukrainian Film Festival Australia 2026 Brings Cinema, Culture, and Heart to Darwin
UAANT hosted memorable screenings at MAGNT and Deckchair Cinema, bringing contemporary Ukrainian cinema to Darwin through UFFA 2026.
The Ukrainian-Australian Association of Northern Territory (UAANT) was proud to host and participate in a memorable day of storytelling, heritage, and community connection for the Ukrainian Film Festival Australia 2026 (UFFA 2026) right here in Darwin.
From morning screenings under the roof of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT) to an enchanting evening under the stars at the iconic Deckchair Cinema, the day brought together Top End locals, community members, and film lovers to experience contemporary Ukrainian cinema.

A Day of Powerful Cinema: From MAGNT to Deckchair
The festival program showcased the rich diversity, depth, and spirit of modern Ukraine, giving audiences an intimate window into lives shaped by strength, humor, and determination:
- Morning at MAGNT: Our daytime sessions brought audiences together in the comfortable theatrette of MAGNT for deeply moving features and documentaries.
- Evening at Deckchair Cinema: As the sun set over Darwin Harbour, attendees gathered at Deckchair Cinema for an unforgettable outdoor screening. Surrounded by warm tropical breezes and a vibrant atmosphere, guests experienced stories that stirred emotions and sparked meaningful conversations.

"It was truly unforgettable sharing these powerful stories of courage, humour, identity, and resilience with everyone who attended."

Enormous Gratitude to Our Partners
An event of this scale is only possible through dedicated teamwork and partnership. UAANT extends its heartfelt thanks to:
- Deckchair Cinema for providing one of Darwin's most beloved venues and continuous support for local community events.
- MAGNT for opening their space to support vibrant cultural storytelling on Larrakia country.
- The Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) (Ukrainian Arts Council) for leading the national festival initiative.
- Volunteers and Attendees: To every single person who brought family, bought a ticket, or helped behind the scenes — thank you for standing with us and celebrating Ukrainian culture!
