International Ukrainian School: Ukrainian Education for Children Abroad

Ukrainian families living in Australia and New Zealand may be interested in the International Ukrainian School (Міжнародна українська школа, or МУШ), a Ukrainian state educational institution for children who live temporarily or permanently outside Ukraine.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Australia has asked Ukrainian communities to share information about the school with families, educators and community learning centres.

What the school offers

МУШ provides a pathway for eligible children to continue Ukrainian general secondary education while living abroad. Depending on the child's circumstances and study plan, this can include:

• an individual external-study pathway;
• online learning and assessment;
• recognition of relevant learning completed at a school outside Ukraine, subject to the school's requirements; and
• Ukrainian state-standard education documents after the applicable program and assessment requirements are completed.

The school also works with eligible Ukrainian educational centres abroad, providing educational and methodological support under formal cooperation arrangements.

Participation in МУШ does not automatically replace any schooling or attendance obligations that may apply where a child lives. Parents should consider the child's workload and confirm local requirements with the relevant education authority before enrolling.
