Ukraine Independence Day at Buff Club 2023

On Friday, 25 August 2023, UAANT welcomed Ukrainians from across the Northern Territory to an Independence Day gathering at Buff Club in Stuart Park.

Although the community met one day after Ukraine's official Independence Day, the meaning remained the same: honouring Ukraine's sovereignty, remembering the long struggle for freedom, and bringing people together around a shared national identity.

In 2023, while Ukraine continued to resist Russia's full-scale invasion, celebrating independence carried particular weight. For families living far from home, the Darwin gathering offered a place to stand together, speak Ukrainian, support one another, and affirm that distance does not weaken our connection to Ukraine.
