Refugee Week is being held at Melaleuca Australia 17-21 June 2024 and the theme is Finding freedom: family. This year Melaleuca Australia is collaborating with refugee communities, schools and interested stakeholders to highlight stories through a range of mediums and meaningful ways.

About The Event
Event description
Key events include:
Opening Event - Monday 17 June 4-5:30pm: includes special welcome, interactive djembe (drumming) circle, candle lit vigil & cooking demonstration by community members with lived refugee experience.
Gallery - Daily from 12noon-5pm Tuesday 18 until Friday 21 June: proudly displaying entries from local schools and adults from the Migrant English Program which explore the theme. We invite votes from the Darwin community for the People’s Choice award. Portable panel fusion - Daily from 4-5pm Tuesday 18 until Friday 21 June: We welcome you and your colleagues, fellow students, family to come with respectful curiosity to explore your understanding of the refugee journey.
Communities connect - Daily from 5-7pm Tuesday 18 until Friday 21 June: communities with refugee experience from Ukraine, Karen, South Sudan & Republic of the Congo will be hosting the wider community, sharing experiences and connecting with you around how stories of love and family support have given strength and freedom.
