Celebrating Australia together
On Monday, 26 January 2026, the Ukrainian-Australian Association of Northern Territory spent Australia Day the Territory way β decorating the ute and joining the 25th Hot 100 Variety Australia Day Ute Run at Hidden Valley Raceway.
Our vehicle carried the Australian and Ukrainian flags side by side β a symbol of gratitude to the country that has welcomed our community and of our continuing love and support for Ukraine. UAANT members joined hundreds of Territorians in celebrating the spirit of freedom, resilience, unity, and community.
A colourful Territory tradition
The anniversary convoy began at Hidden Valley Raceway, travelled through Darwin's northern suburbs and Palmerston, and finished with a community celebration at Noonamah Tavern. Utes decorated with flags and colourful displays filled the route, bringing families and communities together while supporting Variety β the Children's Charity NT.
The event gave UAANT members another opportunity to participate visibly in Territory life, meet people from across the region, and share the Australian and Ukrainian colours with pride.
During the celebration, our members met Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Lia Finocchiaro MLA and Luke Gosling OAM MP, Federal Member for Solomon. We appreciated the opportunity to connect with representatives who engage with Darwin's multicultural communities.
