At UAANT, transparency is fundamental to the trust our community and donors place in us. As a registered, volunteer-run not-for-profit association, we ensure that every dollar we receive is tracked, accounted for, and used exactly as intended.
1. Where Do Membership Fees & Local Donations Go?
Membership fees and general local donations are kept separate from humanitarian and defense fundraising campaigns. They are used exclusively to sustain local operations and support the Ukrainian community in the Northern Territory:
- Community Events: Organizing cultural, educational, and community gatherings (e.g., Independence Day, Christmas, Easter).
- Settlement Support: Assisting newly arrived Ukrainians in Darwin with finding accommodation, schools, language classes, and employment contacts.
- Heritage Preservation: Funding local programs to keep Ukrainian language, history, food, and arts visible in the Top End.
- Operating Costs: Covering unavoidable administrative expenses such as insurance, government filing fees, website hosting, and event venue hires.
2. Where Do Campaign Donations Go?
When you donate to a specific fundraising campaign organized by UAANT for Ukraine, 100% of the collected funds are sent to the designated beneficiary.
- No Cuts Kept: UAANT does not deduct any administrative or operational cuts from campaign donations.
- Clear Purpose: Every campaign clearly announces its beneficiary prior to launch.
- Direct Transfer: We pool the community's donations and transfer them directly to our trusted partners.
Our Primary Fundraising Partners:
UNITED24
The official fundraising platform of Ukraine, launched by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It is the primary venue for global support.- Areas Supported: Defence, Medical Aid, Humanitarian Demining, Rebuild Ukraine, or Education and Science.
- Transparency: UNITED24 publishes regular audits by Deloitte and reports all incoming funds and allocations on their website.
- Official Website: u24.gov.ua
Sternenko Community Foundation
A highly trusted Ukrainian volunteer-led foundation focusing on defense and frontline technical supplies.- Areas Supported: Equipping the Armed Forces of Ukraine with FPV drones, reconnaissance devices, and tactical equipment.
- Transparency: All military support funds are spent directly on equipment. No donations for military support are used for admin salaries or office operations.
- Official Telegram/Website: Sternenko Community Foundation
3. Policy on Handling Charitable Funds
To prevent any conflict of interest or mismanagement:
- Dedicated Accounts: We maintain distinct accounting for general operational funds and campaign fundraising funds.
- Double Authorization: Every bank transfer or payment from UAANT accounts requires review and dual authorization from the Treasurer and President.
- Audit Trails: Bank statement records and Square payment receipts are maintained for all incoming donations and outgoing transfers.
- Direct-to-Charity Recommendation: For larger contributions, we encourage donors to donate directly to UNITED24 or other verified platforms, providing guidance on how to do so securely.
4. Annual Financial Reports & Governance
UAANT is fully governed by its Constitution and is accountable to its members:
- Annual Reporting: At every Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Treasurer presents a complete, itemized financial statement detailing all income, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
- Member Review: Any active member has the right to inspect the financial records and the Association’s accounts upon reasonable notice to the Executive Committee.
- Volunteer Commitment: No member of the UAANT Executive Committee or volunteer team receives a salary, stipend, or financial compensation for their work. 100% of our internal labor is volunteered.
